We have a new exciting opportunity for a friendly and enthusiastic Pre-Press Creative Artworker to join our close-knit team at Judges. Based in St Leonards-On-Sea we create and supply a wide range of high quality printed and personalised postcards, gifts and souvenirs for a variety of sectors, including Tourist retailers, Heritage sites, Charities, Artists, Photographers and more. We are looking for someone to work with our design team to create print-ready files across a range of products and to take on a variety of design responsibilities.
This role will require you to work with customer orders, creating and designing print ready files for products, producing visual mock-ups and liaising with our sales team. You must have strong Adobe skills in order to design, lay up and retouch artwork files. A good knowledge of print processes and techniques is required as you will be setting up files for a variety of different printers. You will also need to have strong organisational skills and be able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
Main responsibilities:
- Creating and designing print-ready files for products such as calendars, greeting cards, tote bags and mugs, ready for our in-house production team.
- Checking customer files ensuring they are suitable for printing on products.
- Designing and laying up packaging for print.
- Creating cut files for products and packaging.
- Retouching and editing images and photos.
- Ensuring orders are produced on time and to a high quality.
- Producing visual mock-ups and presentations for our sales team.
- Regular communication with other departments and occasionally customers.
- Following our brand guidelines to create marketing material such as brochures and signage.
- Assisting with photography for our website, social media and marketing.
Necessary skills:
- Knowledge of preparing files for print and a variety of print processes.
- A good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong lay up, typography and design skills with a creative eye.
- Proficient with using an Apple Mac.
- Good spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Able to learn quickly and work to deadlines.
- Strong ability to communicate and a good team player.
- Basic photography skills would be beneficial.
- Capacity to learn new print techniques, colour matching and paper qualities.
Beneficial but not essential:
- Illustration skills. There could be opportunities for creating bespoke ranges for our customers.
- Photography and camera skills.
Minimum 1 year experience working in the print industry.
This is an exciting time to join us at Judges, we have recently rebranded and launched our new website; we are expanding our team whilst developing new and creative products.
This is a 40 hour a week role working Monday to Friday, with 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
