At Judges, we love the variety of projects we get to bring to life – from stately homes to quirky teapots, and from historic artwork to bold contemporary finishes. Here are four of our favourite cards we’ve produced, each for very different reasons.
Chatsworth is a jewel of English heritage, and we wanted to do justice to its grandeur. For this card, we printed directly onto a Gold Foil board, allowing the windows and gilded inscription to shimmer as they would in real life. The effect is both luxurious and subtle – a reminder of the refinement of the building itself. This project really highlights how foil can elevate a design, especially when used thoughtfully with photography.
The image of Sandringham, with its warm autumnal tones and rolling lawns, deserved nothing less than the best print treatment. The sharpness of the detail and richness of the colour come from our investment in high-end print processes – ensuring the photo is reproduced with depth and clarity. This is the sort of card that shows just how far print technology has come: crisp detail, true-to-life colours, and a finish that invites a second look.
Sometimes, our favourite projects are the playful ones. This card, produced for Norfolk Museum Service, features a charming Santa-themed teapot from their collection. We die-cut the card to match the outline of the teapot itself, giving it a wonderfully tactile and fun feel. Die-cutting always adds a touch of surprise, and here it transforms a simple image into something that feels almost collectible. A festive favourite that makes people smile.
Finally, one of our boldest and most creative collaborations: a hot air balloon card for Bread & Butter Press, featuring a Denise Hoyle design from 1955. The artwork bursts with energy, but what really makes it pop is the Gold Foil detailing. Against the vivid Fluorescent Pink background, the foil catches the light and creates movement. This project is a perfect example of how contemporary print techniques can breathe new life into historic design, giving it both authenticity and sparkle.
What unites these four cards is the way they each push at the edges of what print can do – whether that’s through foil, die-cutting, or sheer print quality. They remind us that every project has its own personality, and the best results come when we match the right technique to the story being told.
These cards are more than just products – they’re little showcases of what makes us love what we do.
